This little literary gem was sent to me by my Dad. I hope you both enjoy it. Just forget the fact that it reads like he's yelling it - he's hard of hearing.
REDNECK LOVE POEM
SUSIE LEE DONE FELL IN LOVE;
SHE PLANNED TO MARRY JOE.
SHE WAS SO HAPPY 'BOUT IT ALL
SHE TOLD HER PAPPY SO.
PAPPY TOLD HER, "SUSIE GAL,
YOU'LL HAVE TO FIND ANOTHER.
I'D JUST AS SOON YER MA DON'T KNOW,
BUT JOE IS YER HALF BROTHER.
SO SUSIE PUT ASIDE HER JOE,
AND PLANNED TO MARRY WILL,
BUT AFTER TELLING PAPPY THIS,
HE SAID,"THERE'S TROUBLE STILL."
"YOU CAN'T MARRY WILL, MY GAL,
AND PLEASE DON'T TELL YER MOTHER,
BUT WILL AND JOE, AND SEVERAL MO'
I KNOW IS YER HALF BROTHER."
BUT MAMA KNEW AND SAID, "MY CHILD,
JUST DO WHAT MAKES YA HAPPY.
MARRY WILL OR MARRY JOE -
YOU AIN'T NO KIN TO PAPPY!"
Brought to you today by the letter X.

Oh my GAWD! That's funny! I'll have to tell some girls at work that one!
ReplyDelete**saving under steaming piles of wrong**
One of the River Scum, year before last at Galesburg, sang a song very similar, but a much longer and even funnier version of it. I'll have to dig up the lyrics for that for when/if I'm able to re-enact again.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it! :-)
I should get you the lyrics to "I am my own Grandpa"
ReplyDeleteI would like very much to learn how that could happen. I'm intrigued! >stroking chin<
