New Job Looks Promising...

Got a call a couple days ago from a person wanting someone to drive their van hauling expedited freight. Right now I'm just waiting for them to call back with the results of my background check, which I know is clean as a whistle, but formalities must be observed.

If it comes back today or tomorrow, I'll be leaving for Ann Arbor, MI on Sunday for a 2 day orientation starting on Monday at 7:30 am.

If they hire me, I'll be doing something I love doing -- DRIVING.... All over the country and maybe Canada.

Of course, this means I won't be home for weeks at a time, but having already told my (hopefully) new employer what I do on my "off time", and about my and The Wife's upcoming vacation at the end of June to Galveston, TX, said employer has no problems with it.

Cool.

I should be driving between 1700 and 2000 miles a week mostly to the midwest, southeast, and the east coast.

I'm not saying much more about it until I get my final call-back. Don't want to jinx it.

I'll write more later. I gotta fix lunch for my infected childer now.

Pax!

UPDATE:

Well, it's a done deal! Background check came back good,

(They still haven't found the bodies....)

so Sunday morning, The Wife's driving me to Ann Arbor, MI so I can attend orientation.

(At least now I'll have a "valid" reason not to post for long periods of time....)

I'm gonna miss being here, but seeing as it's still home, of course I'll be back!

(Sporadically and for short periods at a time, but still....)

What's gonna be really funny is the look on my current stupervisor's face when I tell him that Friday's my last day.....

I. Can't. WAIT!

ROLL ON, Y'ALL!!!

  1. Good for you!!!!!

Just do me a favor...don't dream and drive. I tried it, and it really didn't work out so well for me......

  2. Cool!

Hope you've got a laptop so that you can blog along the way.

If not, then I recommend stopping by the local public library of whatever town you're in. Even Greenwood, WI (pop. 1079) has free internet access at their library.

  3. tammi: I'll only dream in the rack. I tried that dream-and-drive thing once before, myself... Thank God for rumble-strips...

harvey: maybe at some later date, I could afford a laptop (that'd be cool; truckin' & bloggin'), but right now? not gonna happen. The library's a good idea, but I'm probably just gonna halfta wait til I get home. I've got a notebook for the road, for when things get "interesting"...

Thanks for all the support, guys!
